Daybed Covers

Daybeds require more consideration than most other types of patio furniture covers because of their unique shape and profile. Unlike standard outdoor sofas or tables, daybeds are designed with layered cushions, curved or angled backs, and varying heights from front to rear. Choosing the right daybed cover is essential, as a poor fit can sag, flap in the wind, and allow water to pool on the surface, reducing both protection and lifespan.

For the best results, measure the daybed in its normal setup, with all cushions in place. This ensures the cover follows the true shape of the furniture rather than sitting oversized or uneven. Covers that are too loose tend to look untidy and are more likely to shift in windy conditions, while covers that are too tight can place unnecessary strain on seams and fastening points.

Designed for the Shape of a Daybed

Many outdoor daybeds feature sloped or angled cushions, with a higher backrest and a lower front edge. This design improves comfort but also means the cover must accommodate the drop in height. Using a standard table cover is rarely suitable, as table covers are designed for flat, level surfaces. On a daybed, this results in excess material bunching at the front and poor tension across the top, making the cover more likely to catch wind or trap water.

A cover designed specifically for daybeds will follow the contour of the furniture, sitting neatly and maintaining proper water run-off.

Fit, Security, and Outdoor Performance

Because daybeds are often positioned in open areas such as patios, decks, or pool surrounds, secure fastening is especially important. Look for outdoor daybed covers with proper tie-downs or an elasticated hem to help keep the cover in place during wind and changing weather.

A well-fitted, well-secured cover not only protects the furniture more effectively but also lasts longer, as it’s not constantly being pulled, lifted, or strained by movement. When chosen correctly, a daybed cover provides reliable protection while keeping your outdoor space looking clean and well-considered.
